Today I met the most awesome lady. She just turned 60 and bought herself a ticket to Hawaii, Paris & New York (for a same sex marriage). Incidentally we crossed paths and ended up on the same bike tour of Giverny. Had a beautiful french picnic lunch together with cambenbert, cider, olive tapenade on the river, rode though Monet’s garden and then parted ways this evening. It saddens me to know I’ll probably never see her again and have no way of contacting her. This has got to be one of the downsides of travelling. So many goodbyes.
If anything though, today has proved I’m not a total outcast. After weeks and weeks of barely connecting with anyone whilst travelling, I realise there’s nothing wrong with me. You just need to find people you bond with. Even if they are two generations older. :)
